Today I was lucky enough to go on Caleb's field trip to the the River Bottoms with him. This was the third time that they have been this school year. They went in the fall and observed the conditions of the surrounding area during this time of year. The second time they went was in the winter. Tracen was able to go help out for this trip. The kid's made more observations and left food behind for the birds. Today we made cast prints and watched sugar ants eat the sugar water that we made for them. They also compared the temperature of the pond water and the river water. The pond water was 68 degrees and the river water was 53 degrees. After most of the observations were made we ate lunch and played the rest of the time. The kids played with the magnifying glass and you guessed it.....burnt ants and dried leaves. Of course we had water near by! The fire experimenting was the biggest hit by far! Who new a magnifying glass and the sun could be so fun! It was so nice to be able to spend some one on one time with Caleb. He is such and awesome son! He is so tenderhearted and yet so excited about life. Thanks for letting me spend the day with you Caleb. I love you!
