Minnetonka Cave

Today we took our cub scout group to Minnetonka Cave in St Charles, Idaho. It was the first time that these boy's had ever been there. We all had such a great time and we learned a lot. We learned that Stalagmites are the formation growing from the ground; so, stalactites are the formations growing form the ceiling. Columns- were the formations that goined together. The formations are constintaly growing at a slow rate, if you touch them, then this will stop them from growing. The oil in your hands will stop the growth. The cave stays at a constant 40 degrees all year round! You defiantly needed a jacket for the tour, just a little bit cool! Our fun tour guide was Devin, I think the boy's thought of him as a big brother. They had a really fun time talking to him and asking him all sorts of questions. What a fun day for us all.

Yesterday we went to the Narrows with some friend's. We roasted hot dogs and made smores. The fishing wasn't to bad either. Caleb and Wyatt both caught a fish. We are so lucky to have great friend's.

ThE CAt CAme BAck!

So, the cat came back! Where the heck has she been? She went missing two weeks ago; so, as I have posted earlier we got us another mouser. Prowler wasn't to happy to see the new mouser to say the least. I hope this doesn't make her want to leave again. She will just have to learn to get along! She hates the new dog. She was just getting comfortable with Payton before we had to get rid of him. Oh, it is so hard learning to share.

BeAUTiful SuNDaY

Today was an incredible day! We had to take advantage of this gorgeous weather, so we did. Tracen cooked the steaks to perfection(he is the grilling king!). I made the baked taters and a yummy summer salad. Wyatt made a slammin' batch of orange juice. We are so glad that the weather is warming up, we were sure getting tired of the rain. Tracen took me on an afternoon ride(on his motorcycle) to Montpelier. The ride through Strawberry canyon was breath taking! I love the smell of the mountins in the summer time, the wild flowers is a smell that need to be bottled up. What a beautiful world we live in!

The ALMOST Perfect RACE

Today we headed to Inkom, Idaho to participate in the Tax Day Grind Road Race. Tracen had been contemplating this race for about a week. He wasn't sure that he could do this race and then get back to work on time due to the start time being so late for the Masters 35+ B group. We got up this morning and decided that we would be able to make it. We hurried and got ready and we were off. Of course we had to pay the late registration fee due to dragging our feet. Oh well, it was the perfect day for a race. No wind, just a lot of sun and a hilly course waiting for us. We got him checked in and wouldn't you know it, he got the exact same number as he had for the High Unitas Race, 707. His pack rolled out about 12:30, after a 1 mile neutral roll out the race was on! I followed him for a while and put my sweet camera to work. Tracen bought me a Canon EOS Rebel XTi for Christmas 3 years ago and I love it! It takes the bestest pictures ever:) I leapfrogged him to the top of the course and than let him just race. They had to complete this course 6 times, it was another hilly course and his legs felt great! He rode a strong and smart race; I worry about him being smart cause he tends to pull more than he should, he totally took his turn and let his team mates take theirs. Every time he rode by the feed zone area he was leading the pack, I was so excited for him. I knew this was going to be his race! After his fifth time around I walked up to the finish line to cheer him in. As they started to come around the bend in a final sprint, I couldn't see him. Oh crap! Did he wreck? I couldn't believe it. When he rolled across the finish line I could see the disappointment on his face. He went and congratulated his other team mates and then met up with me. I asked him "what happened". He told me that at the last 100 yard stretch BOTH his quads started to cramp! He gave it all he had but his legs let him down. I felt so bad for him. He really should have won this race. He would have. I have no doubt in my mind had he not cramped at the end. He told me he had the best ride ever, the hills were awesome, he felt so strong climbing, he ate and stayed hydrated like he should. DANG those CRAMPS! We will defiantly not let this get us down. He will be back in the saddle in no time and tyring to win again. I am so proud of him! I will be there waiting for him at the finish line at his next race. BTW he only had a 7 day rest period since his last 80 mile climbing race. What an animal! I love you Tracen! He took 5th.

INdiAN SOccER CAmp

Chase and Caleb participated in a 4 day soccer camp this week. Practice started at 8:00, they played for 2 hrs. They learned basic soccer skills and had a great time. They have played soccer in the past and they really enjoy it. This camp helps to refresh their memories and sharpen up their skills. It is a great program put on by the school. They are so excite to do it again next year, chase is glad that he can sleep in again, now that's what I'm talking about:)

2 WINS & 2 LOSES

I can't believe how fast my Chasers is growing up! He finally lost his first tooth today. He was at soccer camp when it fell out. He held it in his little hand till he got home and was able to put it in a bag. I was on a 8 1/2 mile run with Heidie and Kara today or else I would have held it for him:) You can see his tongue sticking out of the tooth hole.....so cute. We have lost our faithful cat(or what use to be). We are afraid that she might have got ran over- we are not sure. So, we found us a new free mouser. Chase named her Zelda. I think that the kitten might forget how to walk 'cause Chase hasn't put her down since he brought her home! Sandee is sure intrigued with this new addition to the pet collection. It is so funny to watch them, typical love hate relationship. So we have a lost tooth and cat...but a new kitten and a happy little guy!

We had such a great time camping with the Moser's, Henderson's and Kunz's. We will defiantly have to do it again real soon! Great food, great friends, great time! Thanks for the great memories everyone:)

High Unitas Road Race- 80 miles

Tracen took the challenge and competed in the High Unitas 80 mile road race. This is no ordinary race, it is one of the hardest events he has done this year. The starting elevation is about 6000 ft, the highest point of this climb will have you at 10,700+ ft. The courses first 30 miles has you constanley climbing. Once you get to the top of Bald Mountain Pass you start to decend, it is fast and fun(reaching speeds of 49.8 mph) !
The weather was horrible, it rained more then it shined, the only plus was the tail wind heading to Evanston. This was really a tough race and yet Tracen loved it! He was amazed at the beauty of the High Unitas. He finished the race in 3 hrs 46 mins(unofficial time) and averaged a speed of 20.4 mph. Tracen can't hardly wait to do it again next year! I was so proud of him and loved being his support crew:)
Update: 6th out of 34 riders in his pack! Way to go!!!! times are still not posted.

LEADERS of the BACK

Our adventure started at 4:15 Saturday morning. I know, we are CRAZY! We had a great day and the rain didn't get the best of us. We had a 60 mile run that started in Stanley, Idaho and ended in Ketchum, Idaho. The elevation was around 8000+ ft at the highest point. Thanks to Tyler for taking care of that for us- you so earned that Mt Dew! Everyone did a fantastic job, we are all lookin' forward to doing the Sawtooth Relay Race again next year. Yes, even Tracen who thought he was going to retire from running after this race. I think he got the running bug:) It was so fun having him do something that I enjoy with me. Thanks Sweet! I totally owe you big time! Leaders of the Back....WE ROCK!
Update: official time 9:12:48. 95th place out of 290 teams!

SaWtooTH CaMpiNG TrIP 09'

On the 11th of June we headed to the Sawtooth Mountain range for a Relay Race and our first family camping trip. They are breath taking, even in the rain. We went with four other families. Shad and Heidie Moser-Paige, Parker and Addi. Tyler and Tammy Henderson-Kinnley and Cooper. Craig and Callie Kunz- Russell and Tyson. Grandpa Glade and Grandma Peggy Moser. We had such a great weekend and made memories that will last a life time.

We took Caleb home to Canada to be baptized. Tracen baptized him and Grandpa Coleman confirmed him. What a special day this was. We had so many friends and family members there. We are so grateful for our faith which binds us all together. We are so excited that Caleb made the decision to be baptized. We are only the teachers of our faith, when it truly comes down to the decisions that we make, we truly own them. Caleb owns his decision, it was a great one! Jason also blessed baby Avril today; a baptism and baby blessing all in one meeting, SWEET! What a great day for us all!

LooK WhO iS 38

My sweet is 38. I am a little slow on the the birthday blog but that doesn't change his age:) He will tell you that he is a old man; but, I will tell you different. Old men don't ride the crazy miles that he does. Hills are not their best friends....but they are his. Young riders don't intimidate him, they empower him! He is in his prime as far as I am concerned, and his age is just a number. I am so fortunate to have this incredible guy as my eternal partner, I love you so much. Happy Birthday Sweet! MoUNtAIN CLimBer

Tracen competed in the Garden Creek Gap road race this past Saturday. This race is a majority up hill race, so if you don't like hills, this race is NOT for YOU! I love to watch him ride. He is so incredibly strong when it comes to climbing. He is to modest to admit it, but, if you road with him you would know it to be true! He loves his new found passion. Tracen has been riding for the past three years now and he gets stronger every year. I don't know how he does it. He is able to push himself to the limits and beyond. He rides a Kestrel Evoke and loves it! We have added different things to his bike to make it a better machine for him to ride. We got him Easton 90 SLX race wheels for his birthday this year. He totaly loves them, and I am so glad! He is planning on racing in the High Uintas road race in a couple of weeks. I will post on this ride and how we fair. BTW they ran out of timing chips so we are still wondering how he placed.

May 27th was the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! The kid's needless to say were ecstatic! Let the summer fun begin:) Holden had a friend in his 4th grade class who hosted a swimming party. Her parents own the Riverdale Resort swimming/slide pool. We took him and the rest of the kids to join in the fun and fun they all did have! Sliding and swimming for 4 hours! WOW! what a great way to start your summer break! SCHOOL IS OUT!
