Today we took our cub scout group to Minnetonka Cave in St Charles, Idaho. It was the first time that these boy's had ever been there. We all had such a great time and we learned a lot. We learned that Stalagmites are the formation growing from the ground; so, stalactites are the formations growing form the ceiling. Columns- were the formations that goined together. The formations are constintaly growing at a slow rate, if you touch them, then this will stop them from growing. The oil in your hands will stop the growth. The cave stays at a constant 40 degrees all year round! You defiantly needed a jacket for the tour, just a little bit cool! Our fun tour guide was Devin, I think the boy's thought of him as a big brother. They had a really fun time talking to him and asking him all sorts of questions. What a fun day for us all.

Can you come and be my boys' scout leader? I will have my Bishop call you.
ReplyDeleteWe went to this cave and LOVED it! I remember little rock figures like the 7 dwarfs and the a "Devil's Window". Did you see these?
